The local nonprofit New Community Vision (NCV) presented an informal concept to Leelanau Township that could result in more attainable housing options in Northport.

The announcement was hailed as a victory for the tribe, which received nearly 200 acres of ancestral land – now called Mashkiigaki – and generated considerable excitement about the potential for more affordable housing in an area that badly needs it.
